Design and analyze a complete turbofan in your own repository.
Over 4–6 weeks, build a turbofan performance tool in your OWN git repo: full station-by-station cycle analysis, component matching, and off-design performance, with tests and a design report.
Cycle analysisComponent matchingOff-design performanceTesting & reporting
Given a design point (altitude, Mach, bypass ratio, pressure ratios, TIT), your tool computes thrust, TSFC, and efficiencies station-by-station, then predicts off-design behaviour. Deliver a design study for a chosen application (e.g. a narrow-body airliner engine).
Milestone schedule
Week 1Repo + on-design cycle
- ›Set up repo, package, tests.
- ›Station-by-station on-design cycle: inlet→fan→compressor→burner→turbine→nozzle.
Deliverable: On-design cycle with a validation test.
Week 2Thrust, TSFC & efficiencies
- ›Compute thrust, specific thrust, TSFC, and all efficiencies.
- ›Sweep bypass ratio and pressure ratio.
Deliverable: Performance module + parametric sweeps.
Week 3Off-design matching
- ›Add component maps / matching for off-design points.
- ›Predict performance across the flight envelope.
Deliverable: Off-design study with figures.
Week 4+Design study, docs & report
- ›Apply the tool to a chosen engine/mission.
- ›Docs + final design report.
Deliverable: Documented release + design report.
